About Zion National Park
Zion National Park is a breathtaking expanse of dramatic canyons, high plateaus, and river-carved wonders in southwestern Utah. Known for its iconic red rock scenery, it offers unparalleled hiking, climbing, and photographic opportunities. Visitors are immersed in a landscape millions of years in the making, defined by the winding Virgin River and the sheer verticality of its canyon walls.
How to Explore
Springdale is the primary gateway town, offering convenient access to the park entrance and numerous lodging options. Within the park, visitors must utilize the mandatory, efficient shuttle system to access the Zion Canyon Scenic Drive during peak season, as personal vehicles are restricted. To explore the natural areas thoroughly, plan to arrive at the visitor center before 7 AM to secure parking and beat the crowds. Beyond the main canyon, consider day trips to the Kolob Canyons section in the northwest for quieter trails and distinct geological formations.
